  1. What does the MAA / PAM mean with regards to Aikido?
    MAA is the abbreviation for MALAYSIA AIKIDO ASSOCIATION while PAM stands for PERSATUAN AIKIDO MALAYSIA.
  2. What are its main objectives?
    To promote Aikido in Malaysia in accordance with the spirit and principles of O'Sensei Ueshiba Morihei. To seek and encourage a high standard of training and competence in the art.
  3. What style of Aikido do you promote?
    We practise the Aikikai style of Aikido.
  4. Who is it for?
    MAA is set up for all Aikikai Aikido practitioners and to those who support and spread Aikido in the spirit of the founder Morihei Ueshiba.
  5. Does the MAA conduct aikido training classes?
    The MAA conducts Aikido training via its affiliated dojos. At its Headquarters in Jalan Scott, off Jalan Tun Sambanthan (Brickfields), classes are available nightly Mondays to Fridays, and at 5pm on Sundays.
  6. What else does the MAA do?
    It acts as the information centre for locals and overseas visitors who wish to train at our affiliated dojos. Other activities include the Annual Dinner / Family Day, Newsletter, Aiki-camps and overseas trips.
  7. Does the MAA conduct grading?
    Yes, MAA is authorized to conduct gradings. Kyu gradings are conducted by Examiners from the National Technical and Teaching Committee. Dan gradings are conducted by Seiichi Sugano Shihan (8th Dan).
  8. Is the MAA recognized by the Aikido World HQ (Hombu) in Japan?
    Yes, MAA is officially recognized by Hombu Dojo, Aikido World Headquarters in Japan.
  9. How do I join the MAA?
    Those training at our affiliated dojos can approach the instructor in charge. Others may email to us at contact[At]aikido-maa[Dot]com or write to the Hon. Gen. Secretary at 42, Jalan TK1/11C, Taman Kinrara Seksyen 1, 7½ Miles Puchong, 47100 Selangor Darul Ehsan.
  10. What are the fees like?
    First time regisration: RM 15.00
    Annual Fee (Adults) Ordinary/Associate: RM 30.00
    Annual Fee (Junior/College/University Students): RM 18.00
  11. Who are the current office-bearers?

  12. Where are your dojos?
    MAA does not own any dojos but our members practise at dojos set up by member Instructors. There are presently dojos located in the Klang Valley (Kuala Lumpur & Selangor) Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Malacca. Please refer to the dojo directory for further information.
